Brenda Van Dyck, 28, of Tucson has been sentenced to over five years in prison for mailing child pornography to her husband, Ryan Van Dyck. Ryan was, at the time, in jail awaiting changes for—you guessed it—child pornography.

Van Dyck apparently printed up and mailed the porn to her husband, who, despite being jailed for it, couldn’t seem to get enough of it. Van Dyck will now have to register as a sex offender for life.

Child pornography is, obviously, treacherous because it exploits innocent children. But beyond that, this was just a really bad plan. Van Dyck literally printed the porn out on paper, put it in an envelope and mailed it to the Central Arizona Detention Center. It’s unfathomable how she didn’t realize she would definitely get caught doing this, or why anyone would stay with a partner who was in prison on charges of child porn—unless, perhaps, they were also into child porn. And what was the husband thinking? “Hello, my beloved, I’m sitting in jail because of child porn, but could you also mail me some? It’s lonely in here without all my child porn.” Pretty disgusting, huh?

Anyhow, Ryan Van Dyck was apparently once a youth soccer referee and a piano teacher, but he was arrested in 2014 on 20 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor after authorities allegedly discovered that he was downloading and sharing child porn. Van Dyck advertised and taught piano lessons specifically to children, targeting ages 6 to 14. There is, however, no evidence to suggest that Van Dyck abused any of the children he came into contact with, but his Internet activities were, allegedly, particularly unsavory.
