A Florida woman, because of course it was a Florida woman, was arrested for refusing to stop twerking. The real question is whether she’s a rabble rousing ne’er–do–well or a real American hero.
Danielle Jefferson, 35, made the acquaintance of a couple of Gainsville officers when they were responding to a noise complaint. She was allegedly blaring rap music outside at about 3 a.m. on a Saturday, without a care in the world.
Officers asked Danielle to turn it down, but rather than complying, she allegedly began twerking on her car. Who could blame her, in these halcyon days of YOLO? Officers decided to deal with Danielle the way an ornery mother deals with a disobedient toddler. They gave her a time limit. They told her she had 15 minutes to settle down or else. She told them they could go ahead and arrest her, police said. The officers wrote her a citation, but she crumpled it up and tossed it at them. She also is accused of telling one of the officers she found him “cute.” She was ultimately arrested for resisting an officer without violence and peace and tranquility was restored to the neighborhood.
We get it, Danielle. Sometimes, you just wanna dance. But it’s unclear why Danielle was so keen on dancing that she would disobey two seemingly patient officers. Was it drugs? Alcohol? A deep desire to spend the night in a jail cell? Whatever it was, Danielle was released on her own recognizance, and did not respond to requests for comments from the various news outlets that were forced to seriously use the verb ‘twerking.’
