Tikeemah Lassiter is now enjoying her 15 minutes of Internet fame for an amateur video that consists of her tossing a cat off a three-story balcony. Lassiter was visiting friends and relatives in Newark, N.J., when the opportunity presented itself, and if it wasn’t a cat she was throwing, we got to say … really impressed by the distance here.
Being that this is the 21st Century, and we’ve gotta post all our stupidity to social media, this one found its way to Instagram with her blessing. Tikeemah, however, did not realize how active the animal protection lobby is both online and off.
The actual video of this carnage is below. It cuts off before impact, but it’ll give you a good idea of why Ms. Lassiter ended up here in the not-so-hallowed halls of the Casey Anthony website.
Within days, Newark Police picked her up and charged her with animal cruelty for the crime. As far as where the investigation goes from here, Ms. Lassiter made that rather easy on everyone with her share to Instagram. While it may get her a tad bit of jail time, fines, and community service, she does still have all those sweet, sweet likes to fall back on, we suppose.
Shockingly, or perhaps not if you know anything about cats and the whole “9 Lives” thing, the feline is going to be just fine. Cats normally land on their feet, but a 30-foot drop is a bit much for any creature. As a result, it did require veterinary care, but it looks like it’s going to be just fine at this point.
The kitty received “immediate veterinary care,” according to NJ.com, and it is currently recuperating at the New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. It isn’t clear what will happen to the cat after it is released from care. Judging from the video above, it probably wasn’t in the best of environments to begin with, so if there are any crazy cat ladies out there reading this, you may want to add this one to your future adoptions list.
