Not sure why it took three years, but Sheri Williams Jones of Fayetteville, North Carolina, was finally arrested for murdering a man she met through the FarmersOnly.com website in 2015 in front of her home. At the time of the shooting incident, Jones claims she shot Clarence Smith, 61, in self-defense. He had come by to pick up his belongings as the two were calling it quits, she claims there was an altercation, and she pulled the trigger in self-defense.
Jones’ story seemed to be good enough for prosecutors in 2015 not to charge her in any criminal act, though this past week they did see fit to arrest Jones for the homicide. She turned herself into the Sheriff’s office for processing. It’s unclear what new evidence came to light to urge County law enforcement to issue a warrant for her arrest, but obviously something or somebody came forward with a new take on the shooting.
If you’ve turned on a television set in the past decade, you’ve seen the commercials for Farmer’s Only dot com, where country and rural folk are encouraged to find similar souls to meet their romantic longings. It’s only odd perhaps because they run the commercials nationally, so they often appear in ads in major metropolitan markets where people walking through a corn field and shoeing horses seems a tad bit throwback. But if this Jones-Smith hookup is any indication of their prowess, the site seems to be bringing matches together quite nicely.
