FIU student, Kassandra Cruz, 23, has been accused of harassing and ultimately extorting a California female college student for hours on end, in regard to her adult film work past she’d discovered online.

Cruz was a student at Florida International University, where she was oddly enough pursuing a degree in criminal justice. In her spare time, she set to work destroying the life of a woman she did not know, according to the FBI. The victim had, in her slightly younger days, acted for money i some porn. Porn is the kind of thing that’s perfectly legal, unlike stalking and harassing, yet some people find it an acceptable reason to shame another human being. Or blackmail them. The victim had never disclosed her adult film past to your family members or employers. For her, it was a long forgotten endeavor.

Random pictures of porn flick, so you get the general idea.

Yet one day, the victim received a Facebook friend request from a U.S. Marine named Giovanni. The victim accepted like you never should from strangers, and Giovanni began interacting with her, liking and commenting on all her photos and also interacting with her friends. The victim became suspicious of Giovanni’s overwhelming commenting spree and blocked his profiles.

But Giovanni would make new profile as quickly as the victim would block him. His messages became threatening, claiming that he’d discovered her porno past and that unless the victim paid him $100,000, he would show her friends and family. According to the FBI, Giovanni sent hundreds of emails and texts, some of them complete with photos of her home and her parents’ home. Giovanni even claimed “to have people” in the specific neighborhoods where the victim lived and worked.

Finally, the FBI got involved and traced the numerous messages and profiles to Cruz. Giovanni did not exist. It had been Kassandra Cruz, FIU coed, the entire time. She was arrested when she showed up to a bogus meet-up the FBI had arranged in which Cruz thought she was getting the money. Special Agent George Nau said that even as Cruz was being carted off to jail, she only wanted to talk to her victim once more.

“She was blinded by her obsession and oblivious to the impact of her crime,” Nau said.

Cruz has since been sentenced to 22 months in prison.

The Miami New Times obtained some of Cruz’s messages:

“Better have my money bitch. Where’s my money hoe!! Your gonna die bitch. I want my money by Tuesday. I want u to come to Miami and give me the money. If u don’t. You already know. Are u really going to give me the money for real!??? I decided that I want the money. And I won’t bother u anymore. If u can’t with $100,000 then I lower it to 75,000. Well… Am I going to get it??? I want my money… I want to move on with my life already so u better have it ok. Time is ticking. Better have my money. I know u live in Van Nuys… Don’t think u can hide. I got people in Sherman Oaks as well. Better have my money bitch…….Where’s my money hoe!! Your gonna die bitch.”

“Skank. Hoe.. You dumb bitch. Spreading your legs for college money lol… Start making porn flix. So u can pay me that money lol.”

And this one that Cruz sent to a friend of the victim’s:

“Sounds like I haven’t been forgiven by her. So I’m done being nice.. Going back to how I was before. What’s the final answer??? Before I do the unthinkable. How are y’all nasty hoes doing? Been thinking [of] passing by magnolia towers to confront her boss about it. It’s unethical to have a disgusting ‘social worker’ working there.”

Kassandra seems like a sweet gal. The fact that she probably seemed like a normal college student to everyone at Florida International University is perhaps the most insidious part of this story. You simply never know who’s got that loose screw.
