Kimberly Brady Held Child’s Hand While Husband Raped Her

follow link There is a scene in a season four episode of the series Bates Motel in which young Norman Bates finds himself trapped under the bed while his father sexually assaults his mother. In one of the series’ most heartbreaking moments, Child Norman, knowing his mother is in extreme pain, reaches out and holds her hand silently until the father finishes.

see A twist on that scene became an all-too-disturbing reality recently for a child victim. WMUR News 9 reports that “mom” Kimberly Brady — and yes, we use that term loosely here — did something very similar as her husband sexually assaulted a young child (age undisclosed). Kimberly Brady (pictured above, hating herself) admitted in a statement to the court at sentencing that she hated herself.

Easily the most disturbing moment in that series. Way worse in real life, though. “I’ll never forgive myself for it for as long as I live. It wasn’t right, regardless of the situation,” she said. By “the situation,” we presume that she was perhaps trying to find a backdoor way of making herself a victim in this. Like she was being forced to participate in the crime or something.

follow url Prosecutors didn’t really believe that, and so they (successfully) pushed for a stiff prison sentence. Last week, Brady was sentenced to 12.5 years in prison. Many of you may be thinking it’s still too light of a sentence for such an appalling crime, and we would be inclined to agree.

enter site The case of Brady and her husband represents, unfortunately, a common reality in the United States. Each year, there are hundreds of thousands of victims of sexual assault (that we know about), and according to Child Protective Services, agencies from 2009-2013 “substantiated, or found strong evidence to indicate that, 63,000 children a year were victims of sexual abuse.” Other not-so-fun facts: one in nine girls and one in 53 boys under the age of 18 experience sexual abuse or assault at the hands of an adult; 82% of all victims under 18 are female; and females ages 16-19 are four times more likely than the general population to be victims of rape, attempted rape, or sexual assault. All the more despicable in Brady’s case as you have a woman aiding the sexual assault of a young girl.
