Frame Job: Arkansas Woman’s Attempt to Bust Husband for Child Porn Backfires, She’s Now a Registered Sex Offender

see Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we set about to settle our scores with our spouses by setting them up for child porn possession arrests.

Cherie Renee Bolton didn’t take kindly to her presumably equally unattractive husband tossing her out of their Siloam Springs, Arkansas house, so she devised a plan. No, not to change Arkansas laws that seem to allow men to throw their wives out of their homes. Though that might’ve been a better plan.

No, Bolton got the bright idea to frame her husband for a series of sex crimes. She first went to the police with a story that her husband was having sex with a 13-year old. Problem being, she had no evidence of such a crime. So, she got the bright idea to create some.

Siloam Springs is said to have a “jumping” downtown night life.

Bolton downloaded a bunch of child porn from wherever you get that stuff on the Internet, she’s not too bright so presumably it’s not that hard, and went to the cops with her proof of her husband’s love of underaged girls.

Because cops are smarter than dumb criminals, it didn’t take the police investigating long to check the time stamp on the downloads to the Bolton’s phone she claims she shares with her husband. Three days earlier the CP downloads said. However, her husband had kicked her out two weeks earlier and the two had had zero contact since then. Ruh-roh.

The Wife Was Arrested, Not the Husband

Police arrested Cherie Renee Bolton and hit her with a series of charges that included filing the false police report and possessing child porn. The porn she had shown the cops herself.

Bolton’s excuse for the porn possession was that she met a strange man off Craigslist and ended up doing meth in a motel in Oklahoma. That’s likely when he must’ve downloaded the illegal porn on her phone. If you think about it, the first part of that story is likely true.

Bolton originally pleaded not guilty, as pretty much most every guilty person does as an opening ploy by defense attorneys. But this week she took the path of the righteous, and the one that doesn’t involve 20-years in prison, and took a plea deal.

The judge hit her with six years but suspended all six of those years assuming she will stop downloading CP in the future as a fun lark. But, Bolton will also have to register on the Sex Offender’s list, which is not exactly ironic, but still funny.

Presume that the Mr. is also a ton of jerk. But he’s not quite as dumb as his wife, who he no longer needs to worry about sneaking back into the house at night. He gets the whole double-wide.

Not As Rare a Crime As You Might Think

Lest you think this is one of those freaky bizarre cases — think again. A quick Google search reveals that a bunch of angry exes has tried to frame their former men for possessing child porn and got caught themselves.

Woods

In 2014, an angry wife, Meri Jane McCrackin Woods, was found guilty of downloading 40 underaged porn photos in an attempt to frame her husband who had filed a restraining order against her (but she seems so stable). She was sentenced to six months to two years in the clink, though reports indicate she won an appeal on technical grounds.
